Servings: 6
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- 3 cups
- Baking powder
- 1 tablespoon
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Water
- 1 cup, warm
- Vegetable oil
- for brushing and cooking
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure the baking powder is evenly distributed.
- Gradually add warm water to the dry mixture while stirring with a spoon or your hands. Continue adding water until the dough begins to come together.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a bit more flour as needed.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball. Cover with a clean towel to prevent drying.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Brush it lightly with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
- Roll out each dough ball into a thin circle, approximately 6 inches in diameter. Keep the other dough balls covered while you roll out each piece.
- Place the rolled dough onto the heated skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown spots appear. Adjust the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
- Remove the bread from the skillet and repeat the process with the remaining dough portions.
- Serve the Mongolian easy bread warm, ideally with a side of hearty soup, grilled meats, or even as a base for toppings like yogurt or honey.
