Ingredients

All-purpose flour
1 cup
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Water
3/4 cup
Vegetable oil
for greasing the pan
Butter
for serving
Jam or honey
for serving

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Gradually add 3/4 cup of water to the flour mixture while stirring continuously until a smooth batter forms. The batter should be pourable but not too runny.
  3. Cover the batter and let it rest for about 10 minutes to allow the gluten to relax; this will help create a tender pancake.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with vegetable oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and quickly spread it evenly to form a thin pancake, about 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Cook the pancake for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown, adjusting the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adding more oil to the pan as needed.
  8. Serve the Mongolian pancakes warm, topped with butter, and your choice of jam or honey for an added touch of sweetness.
