Serves 4

Ingredients

Boiling water
3 cups
Sugar
3 tablespoons, or to taste
Fresh mint leaves
1 large bunch
Green tea leaves
1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Add the green tea leaves to a clean, heatproof teapot.
  2. Place the fresh mint leaves on top of the green tea leaves.
  3. Pour the boiling water over the tea and mint leaves in the teapot.
  4. Let the tea steep for about 5 minutes. This allows the flavors of the green tea and mint leaves to infuse into the water.
  5. After the tea has steeped, stir in the sugar until it is completely dissolved.
  6. Pour the tea into teacups using a strainer to catch any leaves. It's traditional in Morocco to pour the tea from a height to create a little foam on the top of the tea.
  7. Serve the tea hot and enjoy the refreshing, aromatic flavors.

Tips

  • 💡 The amount of sugar can be adjusted according to personal preference. If you prefer a less sweet tea, simply reduce the amount of sugar.
  • 💡 For a different flavor profile, try adding a few drops of orange blossom water to the tea.
  • 💡 The type of green tea used can also greatly affect the taste. Chinese gunpowder tea is commonly used in Morocco.
