Maple syrup
1 tablespoon
Whole milk
1 cup
Espresso
1 shot
Cinnamon or cocoa powder
a pinch (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brew a shot of espresso in an espresso machine or stovetop moka pot.
  2. While the espresso is brewing, pour the milk into a small saucepan and place it over medium heat. Heat the milk until it begins to steam but not boil.
  3. Froth the steamed milk using a milk frother or whisk until it achieves a creamy, foamy consistency.
  4. Pour the brewed espresso into a large, pre-warmed mug to preserve its temperature.
  5. Add the maple syrup to the hot espresso, stirring well to ensure it dissolves completely, enhancing the rich espresso with a natural, woodsy sweetness.
  6. Slowly pour the steamed, frothed milk over the espresso and maple syrup mixture, using a spoon to hold back the foam.
  7. Gently spoon the reserved creamy foam onto the top of the drink.
  8. For an added touch of warmth, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or cocoa powder on top of the foam (optional).
