Mugicha Barley Tea

Instructions
- Rinse the roasted barley under cold running water to remove any dust or debris.
- In a large pot, combine the rinsed barley and water.
- Bring the water to a rapid boil over high heat.
- Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and allow the barley to simmer for about 15 minutes. This process extracts the flavor and color from the barley.
- After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and let the barley steep in the water for an additional 5 minutes to intensify the flavor.
- Strain the barley out of the water using a fine-mesh strainer. The remaining liquid is your mugicha. Ensure to press the barley with the back of a spoon to extract as much flavor as possible.
- Serve the mugicha hot immediately or let it cool and serve over ice for a refreshing cold drink. Enjoy this traditional Japanese beverage at your leisure.
