Authentic Mulitas

Mulitas are a beloved Mexican street food that showcases the simple yet satisfying combination of crispy corn tortillas and melted cheese, layered with your choice of savory fillings like succulent chicken, beef, or pork. These delightful sandwiches are cooked on a griddle to achieve a perfect golden crust, making them an irresistible treat for any taco lover. Traditionally enjoyed by families and street vendors alike, mulitas embody the vibrant flavors and festive spirit of Mexican cuisine, bringing comfort and joy to every bite.

Instructions

  1. Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Take one tortilla and place it on the griddle. Sprinkle a generous handful of shredded cheese evenly over the tortilla.
  3. Add a layer of your choice of shredded chicken, beef, or pork on top of the cheese, ensuring it's evenly distributed.
  4. Top with another tortilla and press down gently to help the cheese stick.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom tortilla turns crispy and the cheese is beautifully melted.
  6. Carefully flip the mulita and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until golden brown.
  7. Repeat this process with the remaining tortillas and filling ingredients.
  8. Once cooked, cut the mulitas into quarters and serve immediately with salsa, guacamole, sour cream, chopped cilantro, and lime wedges.

Tips

  • 💡 For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to your filling.
  • 💡 Feel free to customize your mulitas with sautéed vegetables like bell peppers and onions for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • 💡 Using freshly made corn tortillas will elevate the taste and texture of your mulitas.
