Servings: 4

Ingredients

Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Fresh basil
a handful, chopped
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated
Mozzarella cheese
1 cup, shredded
Pizza sauce
1 cup
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Mushrooms
2 cups, sliced
Onion
1 large, sliced
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Pizza dough
1 lb

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and golden, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic. Cook until the mushrooms are tender and the garlic is fragrant, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. If you like a crispier crust, roll it out thinner.
  5. If using a pizza stone, carefully transfer the rolled dough onto the preheated stone. If not, place the dough on a baking sheet.
  6. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  7. Distribute the caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms evenly over the sauce. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped basil. Let the pizza rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
