Ingredients
- Salt
- to taste
- Black pepper
- to taste
- Fresh basil
- a handful, chopped
- Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup, grated
- Mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup, shredded
- Pizza sauce
- 1 cup
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Mushrooms
- 2 cups, sliced
- Onion
- 1 large, sliced
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Pizza dough
- 1 lb
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and golden, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic. Cook until the mushrooms are tender and the garlic is fragrant, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. If you like a crispier crust, roll it out thinner.
- If using a pizza stone, carefully transfer the rolled dough onto the preheated stone. If not, place the dough on a baking sheet.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Distribute the caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms evenly over the sauce. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped basil. Let the pizza rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
