Servings: 12
Ingredients
- Ghee
- 1 cup (divided into 1/2 cup for roasting and 1/2 cup for mixing)
- Gram flour (Besan)
- 1 cup
- Sugar
- 1 cup
- Water
- 1/2 cup
Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat 1/2 cup of ghee over low flame.
- Add the gram flour to the melted ghee and roast it on low heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously until it becomes aromatic and turns a light golden color. Be careful not to burn it.
- In a separate pan, combine the sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Once dissolved, continue stirring the sugar syrup until it reaches a one-string consistency. To check, take a drop of syrup between your thumb and forefinger and pull them apart; it should form a single string.
- Gradually add the roasted gram flour mixture to the sugar syrup while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
- Slowly add the remaining 1/2 cup of ghee into the mixture, continuing to stir until it is well incorporated.
- Keep stirring until the mixture begins to leave the sides of the pan and forms a cohesive mass.
- Remove the pan from heat and pour the mixture into a greased tray or plate, spreading it evenly.
- Allow it to cool for about 15-20 minutes, then cut it into desired shapes, either squares or diamonds.
- Your delectable Mysore Pak is now ready to be served. Enjoy it at room temperature!
