Transport your taste buds to the sunny orchards of Southern France with this delightful Nectarine Compote. This recipe captures the essence of the ripe, juicy nectarines, enhanced by a touch of sugar and a hint of zesty lemon juice. The result is a fragrant, sweet-tangy compote that's versatile and deliciously tempting.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Lemon Juice
2 tablespoons
Granulated Sugar
1/2 cup
Ripe Nectarines
4, pitted and sliced

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sliced ripe nectarines, granulated sugar, and fresh lemon juice.
  2. Set the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture occasionally to ensure that the sugar dissolves evenly and that the nectarines do not stick to the bottom of the pan.
  3. Allow the mixture to cook for about 10-15 minutes. By this time, the nectarines should be tender and have released their natural juices to form a syrupy mixture.
  4. Once cooked, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the compote to cool slightly. It will thicken a bit more as it cools.
  5. You may serve this compote warm or chilled based on your preference. It pairs beautifully with yogurts, ice creams, pancakes, or simply enjoyed on its own.
