Nectarine Compote
Transport your taste buds to the sunny orchards of Southern France with this delightful Nectarine Compote. This recipe captures the essence of the ripe, juicy nectarines, enhanced by a touch of sugar and a hint of zesty lemon juice. The result is a fragrant, sweet-tangy compote that's versatile and deliciously tempting.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Lemon Juice
- 2 tablespoons
- Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup
- Ripe Nectarines
- 4, pitted and sliced
Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sliced ripe nectarines, granulated sugar, and fresh lemon juice.
- Set the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture occasionally to ensure that the sugar dissolves evenly and that the nectarines do not stick to the bottom of the pan.
- Allow the mixture to cook for about 10-15 minutes. By this time, the nectarines should be tender and have released their natural juices to form a syrupy mixture.
- Once cooked, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the compote to cool slightly. It will thicken a bit more as it cools.
- You may serve this compote warm or chilled based on your preference. It pairs beautifully with yogurts, ice creams, pancakes, or simply enjoyed on its own.
