Servings: 10
Ingredients
- Rice flour
- 2 cups
- Water
- 3/4 cup (adjust as needed)
- Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Ghee (clarified butter)
- 2 tablespoons (for the filling and greasing)
- Molasses
- 1/2 cup
- Sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup, toasted
- Cardamom powder
- 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, water, and salt. Knead well until you achieve a smooth and pliable dough. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water, a tablespoon at a time.
- In a separate bowl, mix the toasted sesame seeds, molasses, 1 tablespoon of ghee, and cardamom powder to create a rich and aromatic filling.
- Divide the dough into small portions, about the size of a golf ball. Roll each portion into a small disc, ensuring it is slightly thicker at the edges.
- Shape the disc into a small cup by gently pushing in the center. Fill each cup with the sesame-molasses mixture, being careful not to overfill. Pinch and seal the edges tightly to form a dumpling.
- Grease the steamer basket with the remaining ghee to prevent sticking. Place the dumplings in the basket, leaving space between them for steaming.
- Steam the dumplings for about 20 minutes, or until they become translucent and firm to the touch.
- Remove from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your warm Yomari as a delightful dessert or snack!
