Ingredients

Original recipe serves 24 cookies

Unsalted butter
1 cup, softened
Granulated sugar
3/4 cup
Brown sugar
3/4 cup, packed
Eggs
2 large
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Baking soda
1 teaspoon
Ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Old-fashioned rolled oats
2 cups
Raisins
1 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cookies tender.
  6. Fold in the oats and raisins until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft. They will firm up as they cool.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Enjoy these delicious oatmeal raisin cookies warm or at room temperature!

Tips

  • 💡 For extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans.
  • 💡 You can substitute half of the raisins with chocolate chips for a delightful twist.
  • 💡 These cookies freeze well; simply store them in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
