Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Beef sirloin
- 1 pound, thinly sliced
- Soy sauce
- 1/2 cup
- Sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Garlic
- 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger
- 1 tablespoon, grated
- Brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons
- Pear
- 1, grated (asian pear preferred)
- Green onions
- 3, chopped
- Toasted sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, grated pear, chopped green onions, and toasted sesame seeds. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved and the ingredients are well integrated.
- Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight for enhanced flavor.
- Heat vegetable oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add the marinated beef to the hot pan in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the beef is nicely browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- Once cooked, remove the beef from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the Okryu-gwan style bulgogi hot with steamed rice and a selection of banchan such as kimchi, pickled vegetables, or sautéed greens.
