Instructions
- Gather your ingredients and a large pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- Heat the olive oil in the pot over medium-high heat.
- Add 3 popcorn kernels to the pot and cover. These are your 'test' kernels.
- Once the test kernels pop, add the rest of the popcorn kernels to the pot and cover again. This indicates that your oil is at the perfect temperature for popping.
- Shake the pot occasionally, holding the lid down, to ensure the heat is evenly distributed and to prevent the kernels from burning.
- When the popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat and let it sit covered for 1 minute. This will allow any remaining kernels to pop.
- After a minute, carefully remove the lid, keeping your face away from the pot to avoid any steam.
- Sprinkle the popcorn with sea salt, to your preference. Toss the popcorn to distribute the salt evenly.
- Serve immediately for the best flavor and crunch. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container.
Tips
- For a variation, try using flavored sea salt or adding nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor without the actual cheese.
- Remember, not all kernels will pop. Don't wait for every single one, or you'll end up burning your popcorn.
