Ingredients

Good quality olive oil
3 tablespoons
Popcorn kernels
1/2 cup
Fine sea salt
to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients and a large pot with a tight-fitting lid.
  2. Heat the olive oil in the pot over medium-high heat.
  3. Add 3 popcorn kernels to the pot and cover. These are your 'test' kernels.
  4. Once the test kernels pop, add the rest of the popcorn kernels to the pot and cover again. This indicates that your oil is at the perfect temperature for popping.
  5. Shake the pot occasionally, holding the lid down, to ensure the heat is evenly distributed and to prevent the kernels from burning.
  6. When the popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat and let it sit covered for 1 minute. This will allow any remaining kernels to pop.
  7. After a minute, carefully remove the lid, keeping your face away from the pot to avoid any steam.
  8. Sprinkle the popcorn with sea salt, to your preference. Toss the popcorn to distribute the salt evenly.
  9. Serve immediately for the best flavor and crunch. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container.
