Ingredients

Original recipe serves 1

Eggs
3
Whole milk
2 tablespoons
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/8 teaspoon
Butter
2 tablespoons
Cheese (Cheddar, Swiss, Gruyere or your choice)
1/2 cup, shredded
Fillings of your choice (optional, cooked ham, sautéed vegetables, herbs etc.)
1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined and slightly frothy.
  2. Heat the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until it starts to foam but not brown.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet. Let it cook undisturbed for about 30 seconds or until the edges start to set.
  4. Using a spatula, gently lift the edges of the omelet and tilt the skillet to allow the uncooked eggs to flow underneath.
  5. When the omelet is still slightly runny in the middle, sprinkle the cheese and your choice of fillings over one half of the omelet.
  6. Using the spatula, fold the other half of the omelet over the fillings.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let it cook for another minute, or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Gently slide the omelet onto a plate and serve hot.

Tips

  • 💡 For a lighter omelet, you can use 2 egg whites in place of 1 whole egg.
  • 💡 Ensure your fillings are fully cooked as they will only be heated, not cooked inside the omelet.
  • 💡 For an extra creamy omelet, add a dollop of cream cheese to your fillings.
