Classic French Omelet with Cheese
Indulge in the simple elegance of a classic French omelet, a culinary masterpiece that is creamy on the inside with a golden exterior. This omelet is a delightfully fluffy folded egg envelope encasing a gooey, melted cheese filling. You can personalize it with your choice of fillings, making it a versatile dish perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light supper. The omelet, a quintessential French dish, has a rich history dating back to ancient times, but it was Napoleon Bonaparte's love for omelets that popularized it across France.

Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined and slightly frothy.
- Heat the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until it starts to foam but not brown.
- Pour the egg mixture into the skillet. Let it cook undisturbed for about 30 seconds or until the edges start to set.
- Using a spatula, gently lift the edges of the omelet and tilt the skillet to allow the uncooked eggs to flow underneath.
- When the omelet is still slightly runny in the middle, sprinkle the cheese and your choice of fillings over one half of the omelet.
- Using the spatula, fold the other half of the omelet over the fillings.
- Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let it cook for another minute, or until the cheese is melted.
- Gently slide the omelet onto a plate and serve hot.
Tips
- For a lighter omelet, you can use 2 egg whites in place of 1 whole egg.
- Ensure your fillings are fully cooked as they will only be heated, not cooked inside the omelet.
- For an extra creamy omelet, add a dollop of cream cheese to your fillings.
