Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • Eggs (3 large)
  • Milk (2 tablespoons)
  • Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Black pepper (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Butter (1 tablespoon)
  • Cheese (your choice, e.g., cheddar, mozzarella, or feta) (1/4 cup, shredded)
  • Fillings (e.g., diced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, cooked ham, or bacon) (1/2 cup, chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined and slightly frothy.
  2. Heat the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until melted and bubbling but not browned.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet, tilting the pan gently to spread the eggs evenly. Allow it to cook undisturbed for about one minute until the edges begin to set.
  4. Using a spatula, gently lift the edges of the omelet while tilting the skillet to allow the uncooked eggs to flow towards the edges.
  5. Once the top is still slightly runny but starting to set, sprinkle the cheese and your choice of fillings over one half of the omelet.
  6. Carefully fold the other half of the omelet over the fillings and let it cook for an additional minute, or until the cheese is melted and the omelet is fully set.
  7. Slide the omelet onto a plate, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve hot with toast or a light salad.
