1 tablespoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Unsalted butter
1/2 cup, cold and cubed
Milk
3/4 cup, cold
Cheddar cheese
1 cup, shredded
Onion
1 medium, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Add the finely chopped onion and shredded cheddar cheese to the flour mixture. Stir gently to incorporate.
  4. Cut the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Pour in the cold milk and stir until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it just a few times until smooth.
  7. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) and use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
