Ingredients
- Wooden skewers
- 10-12, soaked in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning
- Paprika
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Garlic
- 3 cloves, minced
- Onion
- 1 medium, finely chopped
- Shrimp
- 1 pound, peeled and deveined
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine finely chopped onion, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and paprika to create the marinade.
- Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade. Toss until each shrimp is well coated. Let the shrimp marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- While the shrimp is marinating, preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread about 4-5 shrimp onto each soaked wooden skewer, ensuring there is a small space between each shrimp to allow even cooking.
- Place the shrimp skewers on the preheated grill. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and slightly charred.
- Remove the shrimp skewers from the grill. Let them rest for a couple of minutes for the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the Onion and Garlic Grilled Shrimp Skewers hot with a side of lemon wedges and a refreshing salad for a complete meal.
Tips
- Using fresh lemon juice instead of bottled enhances the flavor of the marinade.
- Soak the wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent them from burning.
- For a spicier kick, add a dash of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
