Servings: 6
Ingredients
- Puff pastry (1 sheet, thawed)
- Onions (3 large, thinly sliced)
- Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
- Heavy cream (1/2 cup)
- Eggs (3, large)
- Goat cheese (4 ounces, crumbled)
- Fresh thyme (2 tablespoons, chopped)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- Black pepper (1/4 teaspoon)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to fit a baking sheet. Place the pastry on the baking sheet, pressing it gently into the corners.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt, cooking until caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, chopped thyme, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the onions on the puff pastry, ensuring the filling is evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle the crumbled goat cheese on top of the tart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the tart is golden brown and the filling is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing into wedges. Serve warm or at room temperature.
