Ingredients

Original recipe serves 6

Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black Pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Cheddar Cheese
1 cup, shredded
Milk
1 cup
Eggs
4, beaten
Ham
1 cup, diced
Onions
2, thinly sliced
Pie Crust
1 (9-inch)
Olive Oil
2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and press it into a 9-inch pie dish. Set aside.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent them from burning.
  4. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the pie crust.
  5. Sprinkle the diced ham over the onions.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  7. Pour this egg mixture over the onions and ham in the pie crust, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the quiche is set in the middle, and the crust is golden brown.
  10. Allow the quiche to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the quiche to set and makes it easier to cut.

Tips

  • 💡 For a lighter version, you can substitute the milk with a non-dairy milk and use a cheese made from plant milk.
  • 💡 For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a dash of nutmeg or paprika to the egg mixture.
