Servings: 4

Ingredients

Hoagie rolls
4, toasted
Provolone cheese
8 slices
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Bell pepper
2, sliced (1 red, 1 green for color)
Onion
1 large, sliced
Steak (sirloin or ribeye)
1 pound, thinly sliced
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon
Optional: Hot sauce
to taste (for a kick)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  3. Once cooked, remove the onions and peppers from the skillet and set them aside.
  4. Season the thinly sliced steak with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. In the same skillet, cook the seasoned steak slices for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. When the steak is nearly done, place the provolone cheese slices on top of the cooked steak slices and cover the skillet with a lid. Allow the cheese to melt, about 1-2 minutes.
  7. While the cheese melts, toast the hoagie rolls in a toaster or under a broiler until lightly golden.
  8. Assemble the sandwiches by layering the steak with melted cheese, sautéed onions, and peppers on the toasted hoagie rolls.
  9. For an extra kick, drizzle your favorite hot sauce on top before closing the sandwich.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy your Ultimate Onion and Pepper Steak Sandwich!
