Original recipe serves 8

Gingerbread cake
4 cups, cubed
Orange juice
1/2 cup
Orange liqueur
1/4 cup
Oranges
2, segmented
Vanilla pudding
2 cups, prepared
Whipped cream
2 cups, for topping
Candied ginger
1/4 cup, chopped (for garnish)
Orange zest
1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a trifle dish or glass bowl, layer half of the cubed gingerbread cake.
  2. Drizzle half of the orange juice and orange liqueur over the gingerbread cake, allowing it to soak in.
  3. Arrange half of the orange segments on top of the cake, distributing them evenly.
  4. Spread half of the prepared vanilla pudding over the oranges, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining gingerbread cake, orange juice, orange liqueur, orange segments, and vanilla pudding.
  6. Top the trifle with whipped cream, creating a fluffy layer on the very top.
