Serves 2

Ingredients

Butter
4 tablespoons, softened
Dried oregano
2 teaspoons
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Tomato
1 large, sliced
Cheddar cheese
4 slices
Bread slices
4 slices (sourdough or your choice)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter and dried oregano until well combined to create an oregano-infused butter.
  2. Spread a generous layer of the oregano butter on one side of each slice of bread for maximum flavor.
  3. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
  4. Layer each slice with two slices of cheddar cheese, followed by the fresh tomato slices. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the bottom bread is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
  7. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is thoroughly melted.
  8. Remove from heat and allow to cool for a minute before slicing in half and serving hot.

Tips

  • 💡 For added flavor, consider using fresh oregano instead of dried. Just sprinkle a few leaves on the cheese before adding the tomatoes.
  • 💡 Experiment with different cheeses such as mozzarella or gouda for a unique twist.
  • 💡 For a spicy kick, add a few slices of jalapeño or a drizzle of hot sauce inside the sandwich.
