Ingredients
- Butter
- 4 tablespoons, softened
- Dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons
- Salt
- to taste
- Black pepper
- to taste
- Tomato
- 1 large, sliced
- Cheddar cheese
- 4 slices
- Bread slices
- 4 slices (sourdough or your choice)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter and dried oregano until well combined to create an oregano-infused butter.
- Spread a generous layer of the oregano butter on one side of each slice of bread for maximum flavor.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
- Layer each slice with two slices of cheddar cheese, followed by the fresh tomato slices. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the bottom bread is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is thoroughly melted.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool for a minute before slicing in half and serving hot.
