Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the precooked cornmeal, grated cheese, melted butter, beaten eggs, milk, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- If the dough appears too dry, add a tablespoon of milk at a time until it reaches the correct consistency. The dough should be soft and easy to handle without sticking to your hands.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion between your hands to form a round ball.
- Arrange the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Ensure there is adequate space between each ball to allow for expansion during baking.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the Pan de Bono turns a beautiful golden brown and is fully cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool slightly before serving. This will help maintain its shape while enhancing the texture.
- Serve warm with a cup of coffee for an authentic Colombian experience.
Tips
- For a twist, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dough for a subtle hint of spice.
- You can store leftover Pan de Bono in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or toaster for best results.
