Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Pastrami
1 lb, sliced
Taco shells
8 small corn or flour taco shells
Swiss cheese
1 cup, shredded
Sauerkraut
1 cup, drained
Pickles
1/2 cup, sliced
Mustard
1/4 cup
Hot sauce
1-2 tablespoons, adjust to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, warm the sliced pastrami until heated through, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  2. While the pastrami warms, prepare the spicy mustard sauce by combining the mustard and hot sauce in a small bowl. Mix well, tasting and adjusting the hot sauce to achieve your preferred spice level.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and warm the taco shells according to package instructions for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Once the taco shells are warm, spread a generous layer of the spicy mustard sauce on the inside of each shell.
  5. Fill each taco shell with a layer of the warm pastrami, followed by a sprinkle of shredded Swiss cheese, a spoonful of sauerkraut, and a few slices of pickles.
  6. Serve the tacos immediately, accompanied by any remaining spicy mustard sauce on the side for drizzling.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra kick, consider adding jalapeño slices or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes on top.
  • 💡 Feel free to substitute the Swiss cheese with provolone or even a vegan cheese alternative for a different flavor profile.
  • 💡 These tacos can be served with a side of homemade coleslaw for added crunch and flavor.
