Indulge in the ultimate summer dessert with this Peach and Blueberry Crumble! Bursting with sweet, juicy peaches and vibrant blueberries, this delightful treat is topped with a golden, buttery crumble that adds just the right amount of crunch. Perfect for warm evenings, this dish can be enjoyed warm from the oven with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream or a dollop of freshly whipped cream. Historically, crumbles originated in the UK during World War II as a way to make fruit desserts more affordable, and they have since evolved into a beloved classic around the world.

Servings: 8

Ingredients

Unsalted butter
1/2 cup, cold and cubed
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Cinnamon
1 teaspoon
Brown sugar
1/2 cup, packed
Rolled oats
1 cup
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Granulated sugar
1/4 cup
Blueberries
2 cups, fresh or frozen
Peaches
4 large, peeled, pitted, and sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, blueberries, and granulated sugar. Toss gently to coat the fruit and set aside to allow the juices to mingle.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Add the cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.
  5. Pour the fruit mixture into a greased baking dish (approximately 8x8 inches) and spread it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble mixture generously over the fruit, ensuring it is evenly distributed to cover the fruit completely.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbly and the crumble topping is golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
