This versatile chutney not only adds a punch of flavor but also preserves the essence of summer fruits for year-round enjoyment.

Servings: 16 (2 tablespoons each)

Ingredients

Ripe peaches
4, pitted and chopped
Ripe plums
4, pitted and chopped
Red onion
1 medium, finely chopped
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 tablespoon, minced
Apple cider vinegar
1 cup
Brown sugar
1/2 cup
Cinnamon
1 teaspoon
Cloves
1/2 teaspoon, ground
Salt
1 teaspoon
Red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the chopped peaches, plums, red onion, minced garlic, minced ginger, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, salt, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The chutney should thicken and the fruits should become soft.
  4. Remove from heat and allow the chutney to cool completely in the saucepan.
  5. Once cooled, transfer the chutney to sterilized jars, sealing them tightly.
  6. Refrigerate the chutney for at least 24 hours to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
  7. Enjoy your chutney with grilled meats, sandwiches, or as a topping for cheese platters.
