Ingredients
- Unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup, cold and cubed
- Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Brown sugar
- 1/2 cup
- Rolled oats
- 1 cup
- All-purpose flour
- 1 cup
- Lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon
- Granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup
- Plums
- 2 cups, sliced
- Peaches
- 2 cups, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sliced plums, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the fruit evenly. Set aside to let the fruit release its juices.
- In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. This is your crumble topping.
- Transfer the fruit mixture to a baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the fruit, ensuring it is completely covered.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling and the crumble topping is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. The dessert will thicken as it cools.
- Serve the crumble warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a truly decadent experience.
Tips
- For a twist, try adding some sliced almonds or chopped pecans to the crumble topping.
- This recipe works well with a variety of summer fruits. Try substituting the peaches and plums for blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries.
- For a gluten-free version, replace the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend and ensure your rolled oats are certified gluten-free.
