Paired with the gentle heat of jalapeno and the tangy lime juice, it's an appetizer that promises to delight your taste buds and keep you coming back for more. This salsa comes with a rich history, having originated from the Aztecs in Mexico and has since been a staple in many cultures around the world.
Ingredients
- Jalapeno
- 1, seeds and veins removed, finely chopped
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
- Honey
- 1 tablespoon
- Lime juice
- 2 tablespoons, freshly squeezed
- Cilantro
- 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Red onion
- 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Raspberries
- 1 cup, fresh
- Peaches
- 2 large, ripe, pitted and diced
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the diced peaches, fresh raspberries, finely chopped red onion, cilantro, freshly squeezed lime juice, honey, salt, and finely chopped jalapeno.
- Using a spoon, gently toss all the ingredients together until they're well combined. Be careful not to crush the raspberries.
- Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together and intensify, creating a more flavorful salsa.
- Serve the salsa chilled. It pairs well with tortilla chips, or as a delightful topping for grilled chicken or fish. Enjoy the sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors of summer in every bite!
Tips
- For a spicier salsa, leave some seeds in the jalapeno.
- You can substitute the peaches for nectarines, or the raspberries for blackberries, depending on what's in season.
