Peach French Toast Delight
Indulge in the heavenly experience of Peach French Toast Delight! This delightful breakfast combines the sweetness of fresh, juicy peaches with the warm spices of cinnamon and a hint of vanilla, all enveloped in golden-brown French toast. Perfect for a weekend brunch or a special occasion, this dish is sure to impress your family and friends. Historically, French toast dates back to ancient times, cherished by many cultures as a way to use leftover bread, but it's the addition of peaches that brings a modern twist to this classic dish.
Ingredients
- Eggs
- 4 large
- Milk
- 1 cup
- Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon
- Bread slices
- 8 thick slices (preferably brioche or challah)
- Unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons, divided
- Fresh peaches
- 2 large, pitted and sliced
- Maple syrup
- 1/4 cup
- Powdered sugar
- for dusting
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are soaked without becoming too soggy. Allow excess mixture to drip off.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.
- Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Cook in batches if necessary, adding more butter as needed.
- Once cooked, remove the French toast from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter and add the sliced peaches. Cook the peaches for 2-3 minutes until they soften and caramelize slightly.
- To serve, stack the French toast on plates, top generously with the warm peach slices, and drizzle with maple syrup.
- Finish with a light dusting of powdered sugar for that extra touch of sweetness.
Tips
- For added flavor, consider using almond extract in place of vanilla.
- You can also add a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture for a more complex spice profile.
- Try substituting the fresh peaches with other fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, or even mixed berries for a different twist.
