
Peach Upside Down Cake
This delicious peach upside down cake features caramelized peaches on top of a moist and fluffy cake.
Ingredients
- Milk (1/2 cup)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Egg (1)
- Unsalted butter, softened (1/2 cup)
- Granulated sugar (3/4 cup)
- Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
- Baking powder (2 teaspoons)
- All (purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups)
- Peaches (4 large, peeled and sliced)
- Brown sugar (1 cup)
- Unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9-inch round cake pan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar to the melted butter and stir until it dissolves and forms a caramel-like mixture.
- Arrange the sliced peaches on top of the caramel mixture in a single layer.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until well combined.
- Pour the batter over the peaches in the cake pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Place a serving plate upside down on top of the cake pan, then carefully flip the cake onto the plate to release it from the pan.
- Serve the peach upside down cake warm or at room temperature.
