Servings: 4

Ingredients

Steak or chicken
1 lb, sliced thinly
Crusty bread rolls
4 rolls
Onion
1 medium, sliced
Bell peppers
2 (any color), sliced
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Paprika
1 teaspoon
Cumin
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Avocado
1, sliced
Tomato
1 large, sliced
Lettuce
1 cup, shredded
Mayonnaise
1/4 cup
Salsa
1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, season the sliced steak or chicken with cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper, ensuring an even coating.
  3. Add the seasoned meat to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meat from the skillet and set aside, keeping it warm.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion, bell peppers, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  5. While the vegetables are cooking, slice the crusty bread rolls in half lengthwise.
  6. Spread a generous layer of mayonnaise on one side of each bread roll for a creamy contrast.
  7. Layer the cooked meat on the mayonnaise side of the bread, followed by the sautéed vegetables, avocado slices, tomato slices, and shredded lettuce.
  8. Top each sandwich with a spoonful of salsa for an extra kick of flavor, then cover with the other half of the bread roll.
  9. Serve the Pepitos immediately while the bread is still warm and the flavors are fresh. Enjoy!
