Pepperoni Calzone

Feast on this mouth-watering, Italian-inspired Pepperoni Calzone. Each bite will transport you straight to the heart of Naples. Our calzone is generously filled with gooey mozzarella, tangy Parmesan, savory pepperoni slices, and a robust marinara sauce, all wrapped in a perfectly browned and crispy pizza dough.

Ingredients

Egg
1, beaten (for egg wash)
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon
Dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated
Mozzarella cheese
1 cup, shredded
Pepperoni slices
1/2 cup
Marinara sauce
1 cup
Pizza dough
1 pound

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a large circle or rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce on one half of the dough, leaving about an inch border around the edges.
  4. Layer the pepperoni slices evenly over the sauce.
  5. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, garlic powder, and salt evenly over the pepperoni.
  6. Fold the untopped half of the dough over the filling, meeting the edges with the other side. Press the edges together to seal.
  7. To create a decorative border, crimp the sealed edges with a fork.
  8. Brush the top of the calzone with the beaten egg for a shiny, golden finish.
  9. Transfer the assembled calzone to your lined baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the calzone is golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  11. Once done, allow the calzone to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your homemade Italian feast!

Tips

  • 💡 For a vegetarian option, replace the pepperoni with your favorite veggies.
  • 💡 Adding a little olive oil to the edges of the dough before sealing can help create a tighter seal.
