Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a large circle or rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the marinara sauce on one half of the dough, leaving about an inch border around the edges.
- Layer the pepperoni slices evenly over the sauce.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, garlic powder, and salt evenly over the pepperoni.
- Fold the untopped half of the dough over the filling, meeting the edges with the other side. Press the edges together to seal.
- To create a decorative border, crimp the sealed edges with a fork.
- Brush the top of the calzone with the beaten egg for a shiny, golden finish.
- Transfer the assembled calzone to your lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the calzone is golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Once done, allow the calzone to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your homemade Italian feast!
Tips
- For a vegetarian option, replace the pepperoni with your favorite veggies.
- Adding a little olive oil to the edges of the dough before sealing can help create a tighter seal.
