Ingredients

Original recipe serves 6

Potatoes
2 cups, peeled and chopped
All-purpose flour
1 cup, plus extra for dusting
Salt
1 teaspoon
Butter
2 tablespoons, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling the peeled and chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash them until smooth.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, and salt. Use your hands to mix and knead the mixture until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour as needed to achieve the right consistency.
  3. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into a round flatbread, about 1/2 inch thick. Dust with flour to prevent sticking.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat. Brush the surface lightly with melted butter.
  5. Place the flatbreads in the pan and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Adjust the heat as necessary to prevent burning.
  6. Once cooked, remove the flatbreads from the pan and place them on a plate. Brush the tops with a little more melted butter for added flavor.
  7. Serve hot, and enjoy them plain or with your favorite spread, such as butter, cheese, or even a dollop of sour cream.

Tips

  • 💡 For added flavor, consider mixing fresh herbs like dill or chives into the dough.
  • 💡 You can also experiment with different types of potatoes, such as Yukon Gold or Russet, for varying textures and tastes.
  • 💡 These flatbreads can be frozen after cooking. Simply reheat in a skillet or toaster oven before serving.
