Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Crusty rolls (4 rolls)
- Provolone cheese (8 slices)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
- Green bell pepper (1, sliced)
- Onion (1 large, sliced)
- Ribeye steak (1 pound, thinly sliced)
- Hot sauce (to taste (optional))
- Cheez Whiz (to taste (optional))
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced onions and green bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until they soften and develop a light caramelization. Remove the veggies from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced ribeye steak. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Return the sautéed onions and green bell peppers to the skillet with the cooked steak. Stir to combine and heat through for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Place the provolone cheese slices on top of the steak mixture and cover the skillet with a lid. Allow the cheese to melt for 1-2 minutes.
- Meanwhile, slice the crusty rolls in half lengthwise and lightly toast them on a grill or in the oven until golden brown.
- Divide the cheesy steak mixture evenly among the toasted rolls. Use a spatula to transfer the mixture carefully.
- For an extra kick, drizzle hot sauce or add a generous spoonful of Cheez Whiz over the filling before closing the sandwiches.
- Serve immediately while hot and gooey. Enjoy your delicious journey to Philly!
