Piquillo Pepper Flat White

This recipe is inspired by the classic flat white coffee and enhanced with the unique, slightly sweet, and smoky flavor of piquillo peppers. This beverage is a perfect fusion of balanced espresso, creamy milk, and a kick of piquillo pepper puree that creates a perfect harmony of flavors. It's a great way to start your day or a comforting treat for any time.

Serves 1

Ingredients

Cocoa powder
1 teaspoon, plus extra for garnish
Cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon
Honey
1 tablespoon
Milk
1 cup
Piquillo pepper puree
1 tablespoon
Espresso
1 shot

Instructions

  1. Brew a shot of espresso using your preferred method and set it aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat. Be careful not to let it boil to preserve the milk's sweetness and texture.
  3. When the milk is hot, whisk in the piquillo pepper puree, honey, cayenne pepper, and cocoa powder. Continue to whisk until all ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Carefully pour the milk mixture into a blender and blend on high speed for about 30 seconds. This will create a beautiful frothy texture.
  5. Pour the frothy milk mixture into a large cup. Slowly pour the espresso shot over the milk, allowing it to combine naturally.
  6. Gently stir the mixture to ensure the flavors are well blended.
  7. For a final touch, sprinkle a pinch of cocoa powder over the top. This garnish not only adds a beautiful visual element but also enhances the taste.
  8. Serve your Piquillo Pepper Flat White hot and enjoy the unique flavors!

Tips

  • 💡 For a vegan option, replace regular milk with almond or soy milk. For a stronger pepper flavor, add an additional teaspoon of piquillo pepper puree.
