Instructions
- Preheat your oven to its highest setting, typically around 500°F (260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- In a pan over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the crumbled Italian sausage and brown it. Once browned, remove the sausage from the pan and set it aside.
- Using the same pan, add the chopped friarielli and minced garlic. Cook until the friarielli is wilted and the aroma of the garlic is permeating the room.
- On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your preferred thickness. If you're using a pizza stone, move the dough to a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet that's been dusted with flour.
- Spread the cooked friarielli evenly across the dough, leaving a border for the crust. Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the friarielli. Layer the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the pizza onto the heated stone in the oven, or if not using a stone, on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy the robust flavors of Naples with every bite!
Tips
- For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a few thinly sliced red onions or a sprinkle of chili flakes before baking. You can also substitute rapini or broccoli rabe if you can't find friarielli.
