Ingredients

Mayonnaise
4 tablespoons
Red onion
1, thinly sliced
Tomato
1, sliced
Lettuce
4 leaves
Burger buns
4
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black Pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Portobello mushrooms
4, stems removed

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Place the Portobello mushrooms in the marinade, gill side down. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
  4. Place the marinated mushrooms on the grill, gill side down. Grill for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until tender.
  5. In the meantime, toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, until they are lightly toasted.
  6. To assemble the burgers, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each bun, place a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, a grilled mushroom, and a few slices of red onion.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite side dish, such as sweet potato fries or a green salad.
