Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and olive oil to create a flavorful marinade.
- Remove the stems from the portobello mushrooms and place them in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the mushrooms, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat for optimal cooking.
- Place the marinated mushrooms on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they are tender and exhibit beautiful grill marks.
- While the mushrooms are grilling, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown and warm.
- On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise and a teaspoon of mustard for a creamy and tangy base.
- Top each bun with a grilled portobello mushroom, followed by a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a few rings of red onion.
- Cap the burger with the top half of the bun and serve immediately while hot.
Tips
- For an extra kick, add some sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of sriracha on top of the burger.
- Feel free to experiment with different types of buns, like ciabatta or whole wheat, for added flavor and texture.
- You can also add cheese, such as goat cheese or mozzarella, for a creamy addition.
