Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Corn dough (Masa Harina)
1 cup
Water
4 cups
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Sugar (optional)
1-2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, add the corn dough and a small amount of water. Dissolve the dough by stirring until it forms a smooth, lump-free paste.
  2. Gradually add the rest of the water to the paste, while continuing to stir, until it's fully incorporated.
  3. Stir in the salt until it's evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  4. If you prefer a sweet Pozol, add sugar to taste and stir well until it's completely dissolved.
  5. Refrigerate the Pozol for at least an hour to allow it to chill and the flavors to mingle.
  6. Before serving, give the Pozol a good stir to ensure the corn dough is evenly distributed.
  7. Serve cold for a refreshing, hydrating, and energy-boosting beverage.

Tips

  • 💡 The consistency of Pozol can be adjusted according to your preference. For a thicker drink, use more corn dough; for a thinner one, add more water.
  • 💡 Although traditional Pozol is plain, you can add a twist to it by blending in fruits like pineapple or mango for a fruity version.
  • 💡 If you don't have Masa Harina, you can also use fresh corn dough.
