Rustic Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza
Experience the harmonious balance of salty and peppery flavors in our Rustic Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza. This recipe takes a classic Italian combination and elevates it, creating a gourmet pizza right at home. The earthy arugula, salty prosciutto, and creamy mozzarella cheese come together beautifully on a crispy homemade pizza base, all topped off with a drizzle of sweet and tangy balsamic glaze.
Ingredients
- Salt and pepper
- to taste
- Balsamic glaze
- 2 tablespoons
- Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup, freshly grated
- Arugula
- 2 cups, fresh
- Prosciutto
- 6 slices
- Mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 cups, shredded
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Pizza dough
- 1 lb
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). If you're using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. If you prefer a crispier crust, roll it out thinner.
- If you're not using a pizza stone, transfer the dough to a baking sheet lightly dusted with flour.
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil and minced garlic. Brush this garlic-infused oil all over the surface of the dough, ensuring a flavorful crust.
- Evenly distribute the shredded mozzarella cheese over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Arrange the prosciutto slices on top of the cheese, tearing them into smaller pieces if necessary.
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is beautifully melted and bubbling.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. This helps the cheese to set and makes it easier to slice.
- After cooling, top the pizza with fresh arugula and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
- Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the pizza, adding a sweet and tangy finish.
- Finally, season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Slice and serve the pizza immediately. Enjoy the perfect blend of flavors in every bite!
Tips
- For a vegetarian alternative, you can replace the prosciutto with sun-dried tomatoes or roasted bell peppers. If you want to make the pizza dough from scratch, you can follow my 'Homemade Pizza Dough' recipe.
