
Pulled Pork Sandwich
This delicious pulled pork sandwich is made with slow-cooked pork shoulder, tangy barbecue sauce, and served on a soft bun.
Ingredients
- Coleslaw (optional, for serving)
- Hamburger buns (6)
- Black pepper (1/2 teaspoon)
- Salt (1 teaspoon)
- Smoked paprika (1 tablespoon)
- Onion powder (1 tablespoon)
- Garlic powder (1 tablespoon)
- Apple cider vinegar (1/4 cup)
- Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
- Barbecue sauce (2 cups)
- Pork shoulder (4 pounds)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to make a spice rub.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, covering it completely.
- Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker and pour the barbecue sauce over it.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining barbecue sauce.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for an additional 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Toast the hamburger buns and place a generous amount of pulled pork on each bun.
- Serve the pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw, if desired.
