Icelandic Pylsur (Street-Style Hot Dogs)
Pylsur, often referred to as Icelandic hot dogs, are a beloved street food in Iceland, known for their unique blend of flavors and high-quality ingredients. Traditionally made with a combination of lamb and pork, these sausages are grilled to perfection and served in a soft bun. Ingredients
- Lamb and pork sausages
- 4-6
- Hot dog buns
- 4-6
- Fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fried onions
- 1/2 cup
- Remoulade sauce
- 1/4 cup
- Mustard
- 2 tablespoons
- Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons
Instructions
- Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the lamb and pork sausages for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and have a nice char.
- While the sausages are grilling, lightly toast the hot dog buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Once the sausages are done, place one in each toasted bun.
- Generously top each sausage with ketchup, mustard, and remoulade sauce.
- Sprinkle fried onions and chopped parsley on top for added crunch and freshness.
