Original recipe serves 8

Puff pastry
1 sheet, thawed
Dulce de leche
1 cup
Heavy cream
1 cup
Powdered sugar
1/4 cup, plus extra for dusting
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry until it's about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut the pastry into rectangular pieces, approximately 3x5 inches in size.
  4. Arrange the pastry pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don't burn!
  6. Remove from the oven and let the pastry cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Once cooled, spread a generous layer of dulce de leche on each pastry piece.
  8. Stack the pastry pieces on top of each other, alternating with layers of dulce de leche to create a towering dessert.
  9. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  10. Gently fold in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until well combined.
  11. Spread the whipped cream over the top layer of the stacked pastry.
  12. Dust with additional powdered sugar for decoration.
  13. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  14. Slice into portions and enjoy this sweet delight!
