Immerse yourself in the rich Italian tradition with Rosolio, a sweet and aromatic liqueur that has been cherished for centuries. This homemade Rosolio recipe is infused with the delicate essence of rose petals and the zest of fresh lemons. It's more than just a drink, it's a symbol of good fortune, a warm welcome to guests, and a nod to Italy's vibrant culture and history. Sip it chilled to fully appreciate its smooth, velvety texture and subtly sweet flavor.

Ingredients

Vodka
1 liter
Fresh rose petals
2 cups, organic and pesticide-free
Lemon zest
zest of 3 lemons
Granulated sugar
2 cups
Water
2 cups

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine water, granulated sugar, lemon zest, and fresh rose petals. Stir to ensure sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. After it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld together and the rose essence to be fully released.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool completely.
  4. Once cooled, strain the mixture using a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove the solids. Ensure you squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
  5. Combine the strained liquid with the vodka. Stir well to ensure the mixture is thoroughly combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a clean, air-tight bottle or jar.
  7. Store the Rosolio in a cool, dark place for at least a week. This aging process allows the flavors to deepen and mature.
  8. Serve chilled in small glasses as a sign of good luck or a heartfelt welcome to your guests. Enjoy the sweet, aromatic flavors that have been cherished in Italian homes for centuries.
