Fresh mint leaves
6-8 leaves
Fresh lime juice
1 ounce
Rye whiskey
2 ounces
Ginger beer
4 ounces
Ice cubes
as needed
Lime wedge
1 (for garnish)
Mint sprig
1 (for garnish)

  1. In a sturdy cocktail shaker, muddle the mint leaves with the fresh lime juice to release the mint oils and lime flavor.
  2. Add the rye whiskey to the shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to ensure the ingredients are well combined.
  4. Fill a traditional copper mug or a highball glass with ice cubes.
