Savory Salami and Provolone Panini

Indulge in the irresistible flavors of this savory salami and provolone panini, a delightful Italian-inspired sandwich that embodies the heart of Italian cuisine. The rich, smoky taste of high-quality salami melds beautifully with the creamy, melt-in-your-mouth provolone cheese, while the tangy crunch of pickles adds a refreshing contrast. A zesty spread of Dijon mustard elevates this classic dish, making it a perfect choice for a quick lunch or an elegant snack. Pressed to perfection, each panini boasts a crispy golden crust that encases all the delicious fillings, making every bite a heavenly experience. This panini is reminiscent of the traditional Italian street food enjoyed during leisurely afternoons, perfect for sharing with friends or savoring solo.

Serves 2

Ingredients

Ciabatta bread
2 rolls, halved
Salami
6 ounces, thinly sliced
Provolone cheese
4 ounces, sliced
Pickles
1/2 cup, sliced
Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons
Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat a panini press or a grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Spread Dijon mustard evenly on the cut side of each ciabatta roll for a zesty kick.
  3. Layer the salami slices generously on one half of each roll, followed by a thick layer of provolone cheese and a handful of crunchy pickles.
  4. Top with the other half of the ciabatta rolls to form two sandwiches.
  5. Spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich to ensure a golden, crispy crust.
  6. Place the sandwiches in the panini press or grill pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted and gooey.
  7. Remove from the heat and let cool for a few minutes before slicing in half to reveal the delicious layers inside.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra touch, add a handful of arugula or spinach for some freshness.
  • 💡 Try swapping the salami for prosciutto or turkey for a different flavor profile.
  • 💡 Serve with a side of homemade potato chips or a light salad for a complete meal.
