Salmon Tartare

A refreshing and elegant salmon tartare that beautifully blends French and Japanese culinary traditions. This dish highlights the delicate flavor of fresh salmon, complemented by a zesty soy-lime dressing and creamy avocado. Perfect as an appetizer for any occasion!

Serves 4

Ingredients

Fresh salmon fillet
8 oz, skinless and boneless, diced
Avocado
1, diced
Green onions
2, finely chopped
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Lime juice
1 tablespoon
Sesame oil
1 teaspoon
Wasabi paste
1 teaspoon (optional, adjust to taste)
Salt
to taste
Black sesame seeds
1 teaspoon, for garnish
Cucumber
1, sliced thin for serving
Tortilla chips or toast points
for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced salmon, avocado, and green onions.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, wasabi paste (if using), and salt.
  3. Pour the dressing over the salmon mixture and gently fold to combine, being careful not to mash the avocado.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 15-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. To serve, spoon the tartare onto a plate or into small serving dishes. Garnish with black sesame seeds.
  6. Serve chilled with thin cucumber slices and tortilla chips or toast points on the side.
