Savory Sausage and Mushroom Omelette

Savor the essence of a classic French cuisine with a twist in our Savory Sausage and Mushroom Omelette. This scrumptious breakfast dish is the perfect blend of hearty sausage and earthy mushrooms, enveloped in a fluffy, golden omelette. It's the quintessential dish for a leisurely brunch or a gourmet breakfast in bed. Originating from the 16th century France, omelettes have become a beloved breakfast staple worldwide. Our version adds a robust touch with the addition of sausage and mushrooms.

Serves 2

Ingredients

Butter
2 tablespoons
Green onions
2, chopped
Cheddar cheese
1 cup, shredded
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon, freshly ground
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Milk
1/2 cup
Eggs
4, large
Mushrooms
1 cup, sliced
Sausage
1/2 cup, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Over medium heat, cook the sausage in a skillet until it is browned and cooked thoroughly. Once cooked, remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Cook them until they have released their moisture and have become tender. Remove the mushrooms from the skillet and set them aside with the sausage.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and freshly ground black pepper until well combined.
  4. Heat the butter in the skillet over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, pour the egg mixture into the skillet. Cook until the edges of the omelette start to set.
  5. On one half of the omelette, evenly sprinkle the cooked sausage, mushrooms, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped green onions.
  6. Fold the other half of the omelette over the filling. Cook for an additional minute, or until the cheese is melted.
  7. Gently slide the completed omelette onto a plate and serve it hot. Enjoy this delightful omelette with a side of toasted baguette or a fresh fruit salad.

Tips

  • 💡 For a lighter version, substitute regular sausage with turkey sausage and use low-fat cheese.
  • 💡 Feel free to add other ingredients like bell peppers, spinach, or tomatoes for more flavor and nutrition.
  • 💡 For a fluffier omelette, add a splash of water to the eggs before whisking.
