Sausage and Potato Skillet

Experience the comfort of home-cooking with this Sausage and Potato Skillet dish. This rustic, hearty meal brings together the sizzling goodness of sausages, the golden crispiness of potatoes, and the aromatic charm of bell peppers and onions. Originally a staple of American frontier cuisine, this one-pan wonder is perfect for any meal, from a hearty breakfast to a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Sausages
4, cut into slices
Potatoes
3 medium, cubed
Onion
1 medium, chopped
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Bell pepper
1, diced
Salt
to taste
Pepper
to taste
Paprika
1 teaspoon
Fresh parsley
for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sausage slices to the skillet and cook until they are browned, about 5 minutes. Once browned, remove the sausages from the skillet and set them aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the cubed potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir everything together to ensure the vegetables are evenly coated with the seasonings.
  4. Cook the vegetable mixture until the potatoes are golden and crispy, which should take about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  5. Return the browned sausages to the skillet and stir them into the vegetable mixture. Continue to cook everything for an additional 5 minutes, or until all ingredients are heated through.
  6. Before serving, garnish the skillet with a sprinkle of fresh parsley. This adds a pop of color and a burst of fresh flavor to the dish.

Tips

  • 💡 For a vegetarian version, replace the sausage with a plant-based alternative. For added heat, sprinkle in some chili flakes or cayenne pepper. You can also add other vegetables such as carrots or peas to increase the dish's nutritional value.
