Servings: 8
Ingredients
- Sausage meat
- 1 pound (450g)
- Onion
- 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Dried herbs
- 1 tablespoon (thyme, rosemary, or sage)
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Puff pastry
- 1 sheet (about 17.3 oz or 485g)
- Egg
- 1, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the sausage meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried herbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases and to stretch it slightly.
- Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving approximately a 1-inch border along the edges.
- Starting from one of the long sides, carefully roll up the pastry tightly to encase the filling.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled pastry into 8 equal pieces, ensuring each piece has a portion of the filling.
- Place the sausage rolls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow for puffing.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg for a beautiful golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving hot. Enjoy!
