Servings: 8

Ingredients

Sausage meat
1 pound (450g)
Onion
1 medium, finely chopped
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Dried herbs
1 tablespoon (thyme, rosemary, or sage)
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Puff pastry
1 sheet (about 17.3 oz or 485g)
Egg
1, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sausage meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried herbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases and to stretch it slightly.
  4. Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving approximately a 1-inch border along the edges.
  5. Starting from one of the long sides, carefully roll up the pastry tightly to encase the filling.
  6. Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled pastry into 8 equal pieces, ensuring each piece has a portion of the filling.
  7. Place the sausage rolls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow for puffing.
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg for a beautiful golden finish.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving hot. Enjoy!
